Scouts begin work

The Sri Lanka Scout Association launched its National Scout Service and Public Relations Project on August 8 at the Presidential Secretariat. The event was inaugurated by President's Secretary Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumaranayake.

During the ceremony, Chief Scout Commissioner Attorney-at-Law Manoj Nanayakkara expressed gratitude for the program's facilitation under the guidance of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and the President's Secretary. He emphasized that scout services are not merely about fundraising. Instead, a primary objective is to cultivate a compassionate future generation by practically teaching children the value of the labor adults undertake from a young age.

Scout service is not a task carried out solely for the purpose of fundraising. The main objective of scout service activities is to create a future generation full of empathy by practically making children understand the value of the labor that adults do for them from a young age.

President's Secretary Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumaranayake, delivering the keynote address, stated that plans are underway to develop a strategy for the Scout movement, with its nationwide membership, to collaborate with the government's "Clean Sri Lanka" program. This initiative seeks to integrate scouting activities with national environmental efforts.
