Senator Bañuelos Claims Attack on Campaign Team in Zacatecas

Senator Geovanna Bañuelos of the Labor Party (PT) has denounced an alleged attack against her campaign team in Zacatecas, Mexico. The vehicle commonly used for her transportation suffered a severe road incident, which Bañuelos claims was "provoked" as the occupants were "forced off the road."

The incident took place during a weekend tour that included visits to nine municipalities across the state. While the senator was traveling in a separate vehicle with other party officials at the time of the crash, she released a video on social media showing the damaged vehicle and detailing the alleged attack.

Bañuelos stated that while she would not make irresponsible accusations, she would not ignore the situation. She announced her intention to file a formal complaint and called for the direct intervention of the Federal Ministry of the Interior (Segob) and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) to thoroughly investigate the event.

Local deputy Alfredo Femat and federal deputy Fernando Vilchis corroborated Bañuelos' account, describing the incident as unprecedented and deliberate. They echoed the call for a serious investigation by federal authorities.
