Serial Thief Apprehended in Zagreb After Stealing Perfumes, Robbing Minor

Zagreb police have apprehended a 35-year-old man suspected of a string of crimes, including the theft of hundreds of perfumes across Zagreb and Dugo Selo. The investigation suggests the suspect, along with three currently unidentified individuals, committed a total of 26 offenses.

These offenses include 16 counts of theft, eight instances of aggravated theft committed in a brazen manner, and one count of robbery against a minor. The group is also suspected of forging documents. Police reports indicate that from March until the end of the investigation period, the arrested man and his associates targeted various stores in the Dugo Selo, Sesvete, and Dubrava areas.

In eight instances, the suspect acted alone, stealing perfumes, cosmetics, and clothing from store shelves before fleeing. In other cases, he collaborated with an unknown accomplice. During one theft, he used a vehicle with stolen license plates, leading to charges of document forgery. The police noted that in eight separate incidents, the suspect stole perfumes from stores despite being warned by employees.

Beyond store thefts, the suspect also engaged in burglaries. In one case in early July, he and another unknown individual broke into a house in Maksimir, stealing perfumes, sunglasses, and money. The robbery of a minor occurred in May 2026, where the suspect and two others offered a child a ride and then stole a necklace from the child at knifepoint. The total material damage from these crimes is estimated at approximately 37,267 euros. The suspect has been handed over to a pre-trial detention supervisor.
