Seven Arrested in Shooting of Former Beşiktaş Fan Leader

An investigation into an armed assault on Kemal Ulhanlı, a prominent former fan leader of the Beşiktaş football club's 'Çarşı' group, has led to the arrest of seven suspects in Istanbul. Ulhanlı, 50, was shot five times on July 10 as he walked down the street in the Gayrettepe neighborhood.

The attack occurred around 9:00 PM when masked assailants on a motorcycle approached Ulhanlı and opened fire. He sustained injuries to his legs and underarm but is not in life-threatening condition. He was treated at Okmeydanı Prof. Dr. Cemil Taşçıoğlu City Hospital.

Police investigators found three spent shell casings at the scene and are seeking security camera footage. A witness, identified as 15-year-old E.K., reported seeing a person in black clothing and a mask running away after hearing gunshots. The investigation revealed that two motorcycles and a rental car were used in the attack.

Authorities identified the motorcycle used in the shooting, bearing license plate 34 FVP 162, which was found hidden in a parking lot in Kağıthane. Fingerprints on the motorcycle led police to Hamza T., 19, who allegedly rode the bike, and Onur T., 26, who is believed to have fired the shots. The investigation also implicated Eren K., 24, who allegedly drove a second motorcycle, and Derya Ö., 23, who was involved in retrieving the attack motorcycle with a car rented by Nuran Ö., 25. Abdulsamet K., 22, reportedly collected the abandoned motorcycle, while Eray Ç., 23, handed over the car to Mustafa K., 26. The suspects arrested on July 15 provided statements implicating Onur T. as the shooter, Hamza T. as the rider, and Fuat U., 25, as the organizer of the attack. All seven arrested individuals have been formally charged and remanded in custody.
