Seven Injured in Tunnel Collision on Artvin-Erzurum Highway

A severe traffic accident unfolded on the Artvin-Erzurum State Highway today, resulting in injuries to seven individuals. The collision took place within a tunnel located approximately seven kilometers from the city of Artvin, involving two pickup trucks.

According to initial reports, the incident occurred when one of the pickup trucks, traveling from the Yusufeli direction towards Artvin, veered into the opposing lane within the tunnel. This resulted in a head-on collision with an oncoming pickup truck. The drivers of both vehicles, identified as Mehmet Ş. and Ali Fuat Beyaz, were among the injured, along with five passengers.

Emergency medical teams were dispatched to the scene following the incident. The injured were subsequently transported to Artvin State Hospital for treatment. Fortunately, authorities have confirmed that none of the individuals sustained life-threatening injuries. An investigation into the cause of the accident, particularly the lane violation, has been initiated.
