Severe storm alert updated for Asuncion and 11 departments

A severe weather alert has been issued for Asuncion and 11 other departments in Paraguay, as the Directorate of Meteorology forecasts intense storms for the afternoon. The alert, updated and published at 2:13 PM, warns of significant weather disturbances.

The expected phenomena include moderate to strong thunderstorms, accompanied by strong wind gusts. There is also a high probability of hail, adding to the potential severity of the weather. The Directorate of Meteorology indicated that the current storm system is persisting and intensifying over the affected areas.

Due to the ongoing intensification, the possibility of localized severe weather events cannot be ruled out for the remainder of the afternoon. The alert covers central and southern regions of both the Oriental and Occidental Paraguayan territories.

The departments specifically mentioned in the alert are Asuncion, Cordillera, Guairá, Caaguazú, Caazapá, Itapúa, Misiones, Paraguarí, Alto Paraná (southwest), Central, Ñeembucú (central, north, and east), and Presidente Hayes.
