Shocking Hit-and-Run in Taichung: Car Strikes Motorcyclists, Drags Bike Causing Fireball

A shocking hit-and-run incident in Taichung's South District has left residents appalled and authorities scrambling for answers. Late Tuesday night, a car collided with a motorcycle carrying two riders at the intersection of Gongxue Road and Gongxue North Road. Instead of stopping to render aid or take responsibility, the driver callously fled the scene.

What followed was even more horrifying: the motorcycle became entangled beneath the fleeing car and was dragged for several hundred meters. The friction ignited the vehicle, turning the motorcycle into a fireball that illuminated the night sky and sent plumes of smoke billowing into the air. The terrifying spectacle occurred near the entrance of a residential parking lot, underscoring the brazenness and danger of the driver's actions.

Emergency services responded swiftly. Firefighters from the Qin Gong and Xin Yi stations rushed to the scene to attend to the injured riders. Simultaneously, additional units were dispatched to combat the blaze, which had erupted due to the prolonged dragging and friction. The two injured men, aged 22 and 56, sustained various abrasions and contusions, with the older rider also suffering a bleeding cut near his eye and chest pain. Both were conscious and transported to the hospital for treatment.
