Sierra Leone Drops All Charges Against Former President Koroma

In a significant turn of events, former Sierra Leonean President Ernest Bai Koroma has been cleared of all criminal charges, marking a vindication after a period of legal uncertainty. The Office of Sierra Leone’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice announced the discontinuation of the proceedings, citing powers derived from the Criminal Procedure Act, 2024.

Koroma, a prominent figure and head of the main opposition All People's Congress (APC), faced allegations of plotting a coup to overthrow the government of President Julius Maada Bio in late 2023. However, subsequent investigations failed to uncover substantial evidence against him.
