Singer Found Dead After Attending Wedding in Cusco; Police Arrest Suspect

Authorities in Cusco, Peru, are investigating the death of 38-year-old singer Luis Miguel Achiri Magano, whose body was discovered on August 24 in the Espinar province. The discovery was made on a sports field known as La Bombonera.

National Police agents responded to the scene, secured the body, and immediately launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Magano's death. Preliminary findings, aided by security camera footage from the area, led investigators to identify and apprehend Trino Aquima Cahua, 30, as the primary suspect.

Initial reports suggest Magano, a musician, had attended a social event, believed to be a wedding, prior to his death. A subsequent argument reportedly escalated into a physical altercation. Police recovered a piece of wood at the scene, believed to be the blunt object used in the assault. However, the motive behind the attack and any prior relationship between the victim and the suspect remain under investigation.

Colonel Carlos Guizado of the National Police commended the swift response of the Espinar police unit in orienting the initial investigation and apprehending the suspect. The case is now under the purview of the Public Ministry, with the Prosecutor's Office and the National Police conducting further inquiries to establish responsibility. Cahua remains in custody pending the investigation's outcome.
