Singer Noraniza Idris prioritizes Anugerah Juara Lagu, clears schedule for Aug 15

Malaysian singer Noraniza Idris, affectionately known as Kak Ani, has expressed her long-standing anticipation for the Anugerah Juara Lagu (AJL), particularly for its inclusion of the Irama Malaysia category. This category holds significant importance for the 47-year-old artist, reflecting her deep connection to traditional Malaysian music.

Noraniza has made a conscious decision to clear her schedule for August 15, 2026, the date of the upcoming AJL awards ceremony. This commitment comes even though she has a prior engagement with her charity program, "Zapin Living Lab," scheduled at AEON Mall Tebrau City in Johor on the same day. Her determination to attend AJL highlights the event's significance to her career and artistic identity.

The 40th edition of AJL is set to take place at the Unifi Arena in Bukit Jalil. Ten local songs will compete for the coveted championship title. The lineup includes diverse entries such as "Tiwikarma" by K.O.I, "Lumangad Oku Dika" by Ryenald Guntabid, "Kamu" by Aina Abdul, "Cak Cak Cekuk" by Wani Kayrie, and "Ke Mana Ni" by Luca Sickta, Kmy Kmo, and Salammusik.

Other contenders vying for the top spot are "Tak Adil," a song entirely composed by singer Aisha Retno, "Nurcinta" by Amir Masdi, "Lemah" by Dayang Nurfaizah, "Tangisan Seorang Pendosa" by Marsha Milan, and "Semacam Pandora" by Hazama. The competition promises a showcase of Malaysia's vibrant music scene, with Noraniza's presence underscoring the enduring appeal of traditional music within the contemporary landscape.
