Six Earthquakes Measuring 3 to 4 Felt Across Colombia on Sunday

Colombia's Geological Service recorded six earthquakes during Sunday afternoon and evening, with magnitudes between 2.5 and 4.1.

The strongest tremor occurred at 8:58 p.m. local time in Totoró, Cauca. It had a magnitude of 4.1 and a depth of 10 kilometers, making it a shallow earthquake. The event took place in the area influenced by the Puracé volcano and was felt in Popayán and Cali.

The first reported earthquake struck Los Santos, Santander, at 3:51 p.m. It measured 3.4 and had a depth of 147 kilometers. Two further earthquakes hit Chocó: a magnitude 3.7 event in Medio San Juan at 5:15 p.m. and a magnitude 2.5 event in Riosucio at 6:47 p.m.

Three more earthquakes were recorded during the night. A magnitude 3.3 quake struck Istmina, Chocó, at 8:25 p.m., followed by the Totoró event and a magnitude 3.1 earthquake in San José del Palmar at 9:05 p.m. The Colombian Geological Service and risk-management authorities continued monitoring the activity and asked residents to report if they felt the tremors.
