Six Indian Nationals Among Sailors Rescued by Navy, Maritime Security Agency in Arabian Sea: Security Sources

In a commendable display of humanitarianism and maritime cooperation, Pakistan's Navy and Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) have successfully provided critical assistance to sailors aboard an Indian offshore tug and supply vessel in the Arabian Sea. Dawn reports that the operation was initiated after the Maritime Rescue and Coordination Centre in Mumbai contacted Pakistani authorities, requesting help for the MV Gautam, which had suffered a technical malfunction while traveling from Oman to India.

The Pakistan Navy swiftly deployed the PMSS Kashmir to the scene. Security sources confirmed that emergency aid, including essential food supplies, medical assistance, and technical support, was provided to the crew. The operation highlights the professional capacity and readiness of Pakistan's maritime forces to respond to distress calls, regardless of the vessel's nationality.

This recent rescue operation echoes a similar successful mission undertaken by the Pakistan Navy just last month. In that instance, 18 crew members, including foreign nationals from various countries, were rescued from the merchant vessel MV Gold Autumn after it issued a distress call in the North Arabian Sea. These actions underscore Pakistan's commitment to ensuring safety and providing aid in the maritime domain, reinforcing its role as a responsible stakeholder in regional maritime security.
