Slaughterhouse Owner Charged Over Fraudulent Invoices for Processing Over 20,000 Pigs for CP Vietnam

The Thanh Niên newspaper reports on a significant financial fraud case unfolding in Ca Mau province, where a local business owner is under investigation for issuing fraudulent invoices. This case highlights a disturbing trend of illicit activities within the agricultural supply chain, specifically involving the processing of pigs for a prominent company like CP Vietnam.

The accused, Vu Bien, allegedly created over 66 fake invoices for pig processing services, amounting to billions of Vietnamese Dong, to a major livestock company. This scheme was uncovered when the provincial tax department flagged irregularities, revealing a stark contrast between the registered capacity of the slaughterhouse and the sheer volume of transactions documented in the invoices.

Further scrutiny exposed that the business was only registered to process a minimal number of pigs daily, far below the tens of thousands claimed in the invoices. The owner's inability to provide evidence of pig transactions and related operational costs, coupled with an admission of selling invoices for a 5% commission, points to a deliberate attempt to defraud and evade taxes. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities determined to uncover the full extent of this fraudulent operation and bring those responsible to justice.
