Slovak Finance Minister Confident 2027 Budget Will Pass Amidst Election Concerns

Slovak Finance Minister Ladislav Kamenický expressed confidence in securing approval for the 2027 state budget, despite the looming 2027 elections which he admits will complicate coalition negotiations. Speaking at a press conference, Kamenický stated his firm belief that the budget will pass, underscoring his experience in navigating these complex political waters.

Kamenický, a member of the Smer party, emphasized his track record, having successfully pushed through four previous budgets. He described the process as "terribly demanding," noting that while conceptualizing initiatives might be easier, securing political agreement is the most challenging aspect. He thanked coalition partners for their "correct approach" thus far, while acknowledging that the pre-election period will inevitably make consensus harder to achieve.
