Slovenia declares fire under control despite new hotspots

Slovenia has declared a high fire hazard across the entire country, with some coastal municipalities facing very high risks, as firefighters continue to combat a blaze on the Planja mountain pasture. The fire, located on a steep and difficult-to-access terrain, presented significant challenges to containment efforts.

On the fourth day of operations, new underground fire hotspots continued to emerge, complicating the situation for the ground crews and aerial support. The challenging conditions required a sustained and coordinated response from multiple firefighting units and aviation resources.

Despite the persistent hotspots, officials from the Ministry of Defence and the Administration for Civil Protection and Rescue (UZR) announced that both ground and air interventions have been successful. The fire is now reported to be under control, bringing relief after days of intense firefighting efforts. The declaration of high fire hazard remains in effect, urging continued vigilance across the country.
