SNTF launches half-fare card with 50% discount on train tickets

Algeria’s national railway company, SNTF, has introduced a half-fare card offering passengers a 50% discount across the country’s rail network.

Travelers must apply through SNTF’s regional offices in Algiers, Oran, Constantine or Annaba. Once they receive the card, they can buy tickets at half price from station ticket counters. The subscriptions remain valid for three months, six months or one year. The annual option can be paid in three installments.

SNTF also detailed the schedule for the international rail link between Annaba and Tunis. Trains leave Annaba at 9:00 a.m. on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, arriving at Tunis Central Station at 6:27 p.m. The service stops in places including Souk Ahras, Ghardimaou, Jendouba and Béja.

In the opposite direction, trains depart Tunis at 8:25 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and reach Annaba at 6:20 p.m. Border procedures take place at Souk Ahras station on the Algerian side and Ghardimaou station on the Tunisian side.

Tickets for the international service are sold in Annaba and Souk Ahras, as well as at counters in Algiers, Oran, Constantine, Sétif and El Eulma. A one-way first-class ticket costs 1,900 Algerian dinars, compared with 1,640 dinars in second class. Return fares are 3,485 dinars and 3,040 dinars respectively. Children under four travel free, while those aged four to 12 receive a 50% discount.
