Sofía Mendoza crowned champion at Miami's Optimist International Junior Golf

Twelve-year-old Paraguayan golfer Sofía Mendoza has captured the title at the prestigious Optimist International Junior Golf Championship held in Miami, Florida. Representing the Paraguayan Golf Association (APG) and the Yacht y Golf Club Paraguayo, Mendoza dominated the Girls 10-12 category.

The championship, one of the world's most recognized junior golf events, took place at the Trump National Doral Resort. Mendoza showcased exceptional skill and emotional control, competing against top young talents from around the globe. Her performance underscored the growing strength of golf development in Paraguay.

Mendoza's scorecard revealed a consistent performance: she completed the first round with a par of 72 strokes, followed by rounds of 76 and 75. Her total score of 223 strokes secured her the top spot on the podium, proudly flying the Paraguayan flag.

The Optimist International Junior Golf Championship annually draws dozens of golfers from over 30 countries. Winning on a renowned course like the Trump National Doral, a venue that has hosted major PGA Tour events, marks a significant milestone and a powerful springboard for Mendoza's future international golf career.
