Some struggle to accept my wins, losses: Nurul Izzah Anwar

PKR Deputy President Nurul Izzah Anwar has acknowledged that some individuals find it difficult to accept her political trajectory, including her victories and decisions. She noted that throughout her political career, there have always been dissatisfied parties, but this should not deter one from adhering to principles. "For some people, it cannot be accepted that I lost in 2022. For some people, it cannot be accepted that I won (the position of Deputy President) in 2025. And for others, it cannot be accepted that I left (the position of PKR Deputy President) in 2026. You cannot please everyone, but you can only be honest with yourself," she said. Speaking at the Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) and Wanita PKR National Congress in Melaka, Anwar emphasized that political decisions should be based on principles and trust, not solely on meeting the expectations of others. She added that leaders must be prepared to face various assessments, whether in victory, defeat, or when making unpopular choices. Anwar stated her commitment to continuing the reform agenda not just within the party but also in building a civil society. She urged PKR members to self-reflect and ensure the party's reform goals remain on track, translating the agenda into tangible benefits for the people. The party's Central Leadership Council (MPP) had previously rejected her resignation request, granting her temporary leave instead, with Vice President Saifuddin Nasution Ismail temporarily assuming her duties.
