Soongsil University G-LAMP program supports high school students' STEM career exploration

Soongsil University's G-LAMP program is actively engaging with local high schools to foster interest and provide guidance for students aspiring to careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The program has organized eight specialized lectures and two hands-on experimental and major experience programs, aiming to cultivate future talent in collaboration with the local community.

These initiatives are designed to immerse high school students in the university's educational and research environment. They offer a deeper understanding of cutting-edge fields such as natural sciences and artificial intelligence (AI). Professors from Soongsil University share their latest research findings and provide career guidance tailored to students' interests.

We hope that students had an opportunity to experience the charm of natural sciences and the value of research through encounters with university professors and major experiments.

The high school lectures, coordinated with the university's admissions office, have reached eight schools, including Nowon High School, Dongdeok Girls' High School, Dongmyung Girls' High School, Gajaul High School, Yeongdeungpo High School, Gyeongmun High School, Chung-Ang University High School, and Simseok High School. Topics covered include AI and new drug development, AI and life sciences, quantum information science, AI and biomimetic computing, and medical information and AI, highlighting the latest research trends and career prospects in natural sciences.

Furthermore, experimental and major experience programs were conducted for students from Daesung High School in Wonju and Yubong Girls' High School in Chuncheon. Participants engaged in university-level experiments in chemistry, physics, and life sciences, gaining insights into the interdisciplinary nature of natural sciences, AI, bio, and medical fields. The G-LAMP program plans to expand its collaborations with local high schools, continuing to offer high-quality science education and career exploration opportunities.
