South Kalimantan Economic Census Workers to Receive Accident Insurance

In South Kalimantan, Indonesia, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) is ensuring the safety and well-being of its 3,989 economic census workers for the 2026 census. These workers will be covered by accident insurance, providing a safety net as they conduct field data collection.

Beyond their salary, which is approximately 10 million Indonesian rupiah for roughly 2.5 months of work, the petugas will also receive official work orders and identification. This comprehensive approach aims to enable workers to perform their duties optimally during the census period.

"If something happens, for example an accident while on duty, there is already accident insurance protection," stated Mukhamad Mukhanif, Head of BPS South Kalimantan. The agency has set a target for each worker to survey 13 to 15 business units daily. This target is crucial for completing the census, scheduled from June 15 to August 31, 2026, on time and with reliable data.

Mukhanif urged the public to cooperate with the census takers and provide accurate information about their businesses. He clarified that the 2026 Economic Census is not related to tax collection or government efforts to raise funds, hoping to prevent public misunderstanding and encourage full support for the census.
