South Korea to Improve Transportation Networks Around Gwacheon, Taereung Facilities

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is taking proactive steps to enhance the transportation infrastructure in the southern and eastern regions of the Seoul metropolitan area. This move is a direct response to the government's commitment to increasing housing supply in urban centers, as outlined in a recent announcement. The focus on improving the wider transportation system is crucial for alleviating anticipated traffic congestion, particularly around key locations such as the Gwacheon Racecourse and Taereung CC. Residents in these vicinities have expressed concerns about the potential strain on local roads and public transport, and this research initiative is designed to preemptively address these issues. By undertaking this study, the ministry aims to develop a comprehensive and efficient 광역교통체계 (widely-ranging transportation system) that will support both the new housing developments and the daily lives of existing residents.
