South Korean Prosecutors Clear 10 Lawmakers in Party Cash Envelope Probe

In a significant development that brings a close to a contentious chapter, South Korea's prosecution has decided to clear ten current and former lawmakers of the Democratic Party of Korea. The allegations centered on the controversial distribution of cash envelopes during the party's 2021 national convention. This decision, based on a critical Supreme Court ruling regarding the admissibility of evidence, effectively ends a prolonged investigation that has cast a shadow over the party.

The pivotal factor in this outcome was the Supreme Court's earlier decision to invalidate the evidentiary value of a voice recording, which was considered central to the case.
