Southern Kaduna killings: El-Rufai family gives Gen. Musa seven days to prove allegation or face legal action

The family of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has given Defence Minister General Christopher Musa seven days to prove or withdraw an allegation that the former governor planned killings in Southern Kaduna.

In the absence of such evidence, we call on him to publicly retract the allegation through the same medium on which it was made.

The family made the demand in a statement issued on Monday and signed by Mohammed Bello El-Rufai. It described the allegation as grave and said Musa had not presented evidence to support it.

Musa allegedly made the accusation during a live edition of Politics Today on Channels Television on September 3, 2026. The family said the minister was entitled to express his personal views, but it was equally entitled to demand credible evidence for such a serious claim.

Accordingly, General Musa (Rtd.) is hereby given seven (7) days from the date of this statement to either provide evidence in support of his allegation or issue a full public retraction and apology.

The statement called on Musa to provide evidence or issue a full public retraction and apology through the same medium where the allegation was made. It warned that failure to meet the seven-day deadline would leave the family with no option but to pursue all appropriate legal remedies over what it called unsubstantiated allegations.
