Spanish star Salma Paralluelo signs with OL Lyonnes until 2030

Spanish football star Salma Paralluelo has officially joined French powerhouse OL Lyonnes, signing a contract that will keep her with the club until 2030. The 22-year-old forward, recognized as the best young player at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup which Spain triumphantly won, makes this move her first experience playing outside her native country.

OL Lyonnes expressed their delight in securing Paralluelo, noting her arrival strengthens the squad managed by Jonatan Giraldez. Her signing follows previous acquisitions of Caroline Weir, Maria Luisa Grohs, and Johanna Rytting Kaneryd, underscoring the club's significant ambitions for the upcoming seasons.

Born in Zaragoza in 2003, Paralluelo began her football journey, reaching the second division by age 15. She also excelled as a sprinter, balancing high-level athletics with her football development at Villarreal CF until 2022. That year, she transferred to FC Barcelona, dedicating herself exclusively to football.

During her tenure with Barcelona, Paralluelo showcased remarkable talent, netting 72 goals in 131 appearances and securing 15 titles, including three UEFA Women's Champions League crowns. Internationally, she has made history with the Spanish national team, achieving championship titles in three different age categories: U-17 in 2018, U-20 in 2022, and the senior team in 2023. She also earned third-place finishes in the Ballon d'Or rankings in both 2023 and 2024.
