Special team of prosecutors begins investigating former Junior Attorney General Febrie Adriansyah

Indonesia's Attorney General's Office has formed a special team of nine senior prosecutors to handle the investigation into former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah. The team officially commenced its work and has already questioned Adriansyah as a suspect.

Anang Supriatna, Head of the Attorney General's Office's Legal Information Center, confirmed that the team began its duties and that Adriansyah was examined on Friday, July 17, 2026. However, Supriatna declined to provide details regarding the content or outcomes of the examination, nor did he elaborate on the investigation's progress since the special team took over.

Febrie Adriansyah's legal counsel, Hotman Paris Hutapea, stated that his client underwent questioning for approximately six hours on July 17, responding to 18 questions related to alleged corruption and money laundering in the PT Asabri case. Hutapea emphasized that his client was cooperative and was not detained following the examination.

Another lawyer for Adriansyah, Farizi, explained that the legal team requested their client not be detained due to his cooperative stance throughout the investigation process. Farizi also noted that while the Korps Pemberantasan Tindak Pidana Korupsi (Kortastipidkor) Polri and Polda Metro Jaya had handed over three cases to the Attorney General's Office, the initial questioning of Adriansyah focused solely on the PT Asabri case. The other two cases involve a blackout in Sumatra and PT Krakatau Steel.
