Starlink Excludes Poland from European Region, Changes Will Affect Users

SpaceX's satellite internet service, Starlink, has made significant changes to its service regions, notably excluding Poland from the European mobile zone. This decision means that users with Polish-registered accounts will face considerable limitations and increased costs when traveling outside the country.

Previously, Starlink's "Roam" plan offered connectivity worldwide, appealing to digital nomads and travelers. However, the new regional divisions impose strict rules. While over 30 European countries, including neighbors like Germany, Czechia, and Slovakia, are grouped together, Poland is treated as a separate zone. Starlink documentation explicitly states, "Poland is not included in the above Europe region. Accounts registered in Poland are treated as intended for use only in Poland."

For Polish users, this translates to a drastic change in terms and costs. Standard mobile plan users are now limited to a maximum of 30 days of use abroad per trip before needing to return to Poland to reset their location counter. Alternatively, they must upgrade to a much more expensive plan. The cost difference is substantial: a 100 GB "Roam" plan costs 180 PLN monthly, while a "Roam - Unlimited" plan for extended stays abroad jumps to 460 PLN, with a "Priority Global" plan reaching 650 PLN.

The lack of an official explanation from SpaceX has fueled speculation within the industry. A prominent hypothesis links Poland's exclusion to the significant support the country has provided to Ukraine since the Russian invasion, suggesting this might be a retaliatory measure by SpaceX.
