Starlink Raises Subscription Prices in Argentina, Mobile Plans See Largest Hike

Argentine users of Starlink, the satellite internet service founded by Elon Musk, are facing a notable increase in their monthly subscription fees. The company has begun notifying customers via email about the price adjustments, which are set to take effect with the next billing cycle. This move signals Starlink's strategy to harmonize its pricing structure globally, particularly for its mobile or 'itinerant' plans, which have experienced the most substantial increase—nearly 60%. The company cites the difficulty in precisely determining customer locations as a reason for aligning these rates with international benchmarks. While the device cost remains unchanged at ARS 299,000, the monthly service fees for both standard residential and mobile plans have climbed significantly. This price adjustment comes as Starlink aims to expand its reach, projecting to serve one million customers in Argentina by year-end, up from its current 700,000. The company is also introducing new products like the Mini X and 'Mini Car Pack' to cater to specific market segments, including the automotive sector, which faces significant connectivity deficits. Despite these expansions, Starlink continues to grapple with service saturation in densely populated areas like AMBA and Córdoba, sometimes imposing substantial surcharges for new residential subscriptions in such zones. The company plans to mitigate these issues through the deployment of next-generation satellites, with a major launch scheduled for May 2026.
