Store Arson in Jašiūnai; Suspect Apprehended

Authorities are investigating a suspected arson incident at a store in Jašiūnai, Šalčininkai district, Lithuania, which occurred around 1 AM. The fire caused extensive damage to the interior of the building and destroyed various goods.

Police have arrested a suspect, born in 1980, in connection with the Jašiūnai fire. The full extent of the financial loss is still being determined. This incident is being investigated under Article 187, Part 2 of the Lithuanian Criminal Code, which pertains to property damage by generally dangerous means.

In a separate incident early Monday morning, around 5:40 AM, the external wall of an outbuilding in Pramedžiai village, Raseiniai district, was scorched. Arson is also suspected in this case, with an estimated loss of 1,000 euros. The suspect, born in 1984 and found to be intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of 2.16 per mille, has been detained. Investigations into this incident are also underway.
