Student recounts terror in Thai school shooting that killed eight

A 12-year-old student described the terror of a school shooting in Thailand, fearing she would die and be unable to fulfill her dreams of attending medical school. Pawarisa Maylissa, a student at Debsirin Nonthaburi School in Nonthaburi province, recounted hearing numerous loud gunshots and bullets hitting the floor as the 14-year-old assailant opened fire.

The attack claimed the lives of eight people, including three teachers and three students. The wife of one of the slain teachers was seen being led away from the scene. As students fled, 15 were injured, with the deputy interior minister later stating the total injured reached 23.

I thought I would die and I feared I could not fulfill my dreams.

Authorities reported that the shooter died, though it remains unclear whether he took his own life or was killed by police. Law enforcement and other responders gathered outside the school as parents rushed to collect their children, with students and staff comforting each other amidst the tragedy.
