Surabaya Mayor Calls for Leadership Relay Among 7,269 New ITS Students

Surabaya's Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) officially welcomed 7,269 new undergraduate and applied bachelor's students for the 2026/2027 academic year. The induction ceremony, held at the ITS Alumni Park, was attended by Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi, who addressed the incoming students. He stressed that wearing the ITS uniform comes with a significant moral responsibility to protect the institution's good name. "Being part of ITS, you are responsible for proving yourselves as the nation's best talents with superior character," Cahyadi stated. He also highlighted the importance of togetherness, unity, and mutual cooperation as foundational values based on Pancasila, encouraging students to respect, synergize, and support one another. The mayor, an alumnus of ITS Civil Engineering, expressed his hope that ITS graduates will carry forward the torch of strategic leadership for Indonesia's progress. ITS Rector Prof. Bambang Pramujati reinforced the idea that higher education is a journey of self-improvement. He urged students to cultivate curiosity, dare to ask questions, and push the boundaries of knowledge. Pramujati outlined four pillars of strength for students: a robust scientific foundation, the ability to solve real-world problems, environmental and social awareness, and integrity. He also encouraged a shift in mindset from fear and doubt to becoming true learners, preparing them for the evolving demands of the future workforce.
