Suspect Arrested for Alleged 3-Year Kidnapping and Assault of Woman in Bandung

Authorities in West Java have arrested Taufik Hidayat, a suspect wanted for allegedly kidnapping and severely assaulting a woman for three years. The arrest took place in Majalaya, Bandung Regency, following a period where Hidayat was listed on the wanted list.

The victim, identified as Yuvita Tri Rezeki, 29, reportedly suffered severe injuries, including blindness, as a result of the prolonged abuse. For three months, Hidayat allegedly kept her confined in a room at a boarding house in Cinunuk Village, Cileunyi District, Bandung Regency. He reportedly locked her in whenever he left, preventing her from moving freely.

The abuse came to light only when the victim's condition worsened, forcing Hidayat to take her to a hospital. During this time, he allegedly posed as a concerned relative, claiming her family was indifferent to her plight. This deception was reportedly maintained even as he brought her in for medical attention.

Resa Rohendi, the boarding house manager, recounted Hidayat's arrival on March 9. Hidayat presented himself as someone seeking to rent a room, mentioning his wife was ill. He requested to rent a room without bringing the woman, who was wearing a mask and hoodie, inside, stating she was accustomed to waiting in the parking area. Rohendi, feeling pity, suggested letting her in, but Hidayat declined.
