Suspected feminicide suspect arrested in Oaxaca; family demands justice

In Oaxaca, Mexico, authorities have arrested Rufino González in connection with the feminicide of Delsi A. The incident occurred on July 11, 2026, in the Mixteca region community of Nican de la Soledad. According to the Oaxaca State Attorney General's Office (FGEO), González allegedly shot his partner, Delsi A., following an argument, causing fatal head injuries.

Initially, González reportedly claimed Delsi had committed suicide. However, the victim's family insisted on a comprehensive investigation. Their persistence led authorities to gather evidence, including witness statements and expert reports, establishing González's probable responsibility and securing an arrest warrant.

Family members and local authorities are now demanding justice, emphasizing their desire for a thorough investigation and that Delsi's case not be left unpunished. Delsi A. was a mother of two minors and originally from San Miguel Cuevas. This case highlights ongoing concerns about violence against women in the region, with reports indicating that 47 women have been violently murdered in Oaxaca so far this year, over half of them by firearm.
