Taichung Cycling Carnival Postponed to Oct. 17 Due to Typhoon

The 2026 Taichung Cycling Carnival, originally slated for August 29, has been postponed to October 17 due to the anticipated impact of Typhoon Saola.

The Taichung City Tourism Bureau announced the rescheduling, citing the need to ensure the safety of all participants, cycling routes, and event venues amidst the typhoon's expected wind and rain. The decision aims to prevent any potential hazards associated with the adverse weather conditions.

The carnival will commence from the Unicorn Beetle Ecological Park in Dongshi District, traversing scenic routes such as the Dongfeng Bicycle Green Corridor, Shiqian Visitor Center, Hualiang Bridge, and Tunnel No. 9. The event culminates at the Houli Horse Ranch, offering participants a chance to enjoy the mountainous scenery, remnants of railway history, and the Dajia River valley.

Upon arrival at the finish line, attendees can look forward to a featured market and various performances, blending physical activity with cultural experiences and local delicacies. This ensures a well-rounded event that showcases Taichung's natural beauty, local culture, and culinary offerings.

For those who have already registered, their participation status will automatically be transferred to the new date of October 17 without the need for re-registration. Participants unable to attend the rescheduled event can request a cancellation and a full refund of their deposit, without any processing fees, up until 11:59 PM on September 10. The event maintains its original capacity of 1,700 participants. Any spots vacated by existing registrants will be made available on a real-time basis through the registration platform, allowing new participants to sign up until September 18, or until all spots are filled.
