By submitting the feasibility study amendment to the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, Taichung is actively pursuing the necessary approvals to fast-track the project. The goal is to align the extension's construction schedule with the main Blue Line's civil works, which are set to commence in August. This synchronized approach is crucial for economic efficiency, as a standalone procurement for the shorter, four-station extension might lack the necessary scale to attract competitive bids from construction firms.

The proposed underground alignment, extending from the Empire Sugar Refinery B20 station, is designed to meet the commuting and educational travel needs of residents.
