Taipei Youth Orchestra to Perform Elgar Cello Concerto with NSO Cellist Huang Ri-sheng

The Taipei Philharmonic Youth String Orchestra is set to captivate audiences with its upcoming regular concert, "Song of Strings," on May 7th at the Zhongshan Hall in Taipei. Under the baton of conductor Chen Shih-chieh, the orchestra will present three works of contrasting styles. A major highlight will be the rendition of Edward Elgar's Cello Concerto in E minor, featuring the esteemed NSO National Symphony Orchestra cellist Huang Ri-sheng as the soloist. The Cello Concerto in E minor by Elgar is known for its deep and sincere emotions and its quiet and restrained musical language. Huang Ri-sheng, who has previously received guidance and praise from Yo-Yo Ma for his rich tone and potential, shared that Elgar's Cello Concerto was the first complete piece he learned and performed, making it a deeply personal and cherished repertoire choice.
