Taiwan High Speed Rail adds 176 trains for holiday travel

Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) is increasing its services to accommodate the upcoming four-day holiday, which combines the Mid-Autumn Festival and Teachers' Day. From September 24 to September 29, THSR will operate an additional 176 trains, comprising 70 services southbound and 106 northbound. This brings the total number of available train services to 1,150 over the six-day period.

Tickets for these special holiday services will be available for purchase starting at midnight on August 27. Passengers are advised to utilize the "T-EX Mobile Ticketing" app, convenience store booking systems, the online reservation platform, or station ticket windows and automated machines to secure their tickets. THSR is also collaborating with LINE TODAY to provide estimated waiting times for non-reserved seats, helping travelers plan their journeys more effectively.

THSR is implementing specific measures to manage passenger flow, including designating specific carriages (11 and 12) as non-reserved seating for 13 specific train services that will arrive at their terminal stations after midnight. Additionally, extra non-reserved seating capacity will be added for services between Taichung and Taipei to meet higher demand. While early bird discounts and student offers remain, certain promotions like "TGo member monthly gifts" and group discounts will not be applicable during this period.
