Taiwan Issues Heavy Rain Warnings for Four Southern Counties; Highs to Reach 36 Degrees Celsius

Taiwan's Central Weather Administration issued heavy rain advisories for four southern counties on June 10, with warnings in effect for mountainous areas of Chiayi County, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, and Pingtung County. The agency noted that southern regions could see localized heavy downpours due to the influence of southwesterly winds.

Temperatures across the island are expected to be muggy, with southern areas ranging from 32 to 33 degrees Celsius. Northern and eastern regions, including Taipei, could reach up to 36 degrees, with a possibility of foehn winds in Hualien and Taitung. Residents are advised to stay hydrated to prevent heatstroke.

The weather pattern is expected to persist through the week. From June 11 to 13, southwesterly winds will continue to bring moisture, leading to localized showers and thunderstorms, particularly in southern and central Taiwan. Northern and eastern areas will see partly cloudy skies with afternoon thunderstorms. The forecast for June 14 to 16 suggests unstable conditions due to a low-pressure trough, increasing the chance of rain across the island.

Overnight lows are predicted to be between 26 and 30 degrees Celsius for most of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu. Highs will generally range from 32 to 36 degrees Celsius, with slightly cooler temperatures in the outlying islands.
