Taiwan: Worker Dies in Labor Day Fall from Roof

A tragic industrial accident marred Labor Day in Chiayi County, Taiwan, as a 65-year-old roofing contractor, identified by the surname Wei, lost his life in a fall from a residential roof. The incident occurred while Wei and his employee were undertaking a tin roof installation project in Pibei Village, Xingang Township.

According to initial reports, the accident happened near the end of the workday as the men were packing up their tools. Wei reportedly stepped on an asbestos tile, which gave way beneath him, sending him plummeting approximately 5 meters to the ground.
