Taiwanese police arrest man for drug-fueled driving during rush hour

Police in Pingzhen District, Taiwan, arrested a 45-year-old man for driving a motorcycle while allegedly under the influence of amphetamines during a busy evening commute. The man, identified by the surname Gao, was seen weaving across the road, forcing other drivers to swerve and avoid him.

Officers from the Longgang Police Station observed Gao's erratic driving and, concerned about the risk to other road users, followed him. They intercepted him on a less crowded stretch of road to conduct an investigation. During the stop, Gao appeared disoriented, with unfocused eyes and slow reactions.

A rapid drug test of his saliva indicated a positive result for amphetamines. Following the test, Gao was taken into custody and will be prosecuted for endangering public safety and drug-related offenses. Pingzhen police reported that they have already handled 129 drug-driving cases this year, urging the public to avoid such dangerous behavior.
