Tangerang Selatan Narcotics Chief Cleared in Etomidate Case, Served as Witness

The head of the Tangerang Selatan Narcotics Unit, AKP Pardiman, has been cleared of involvement in a case concerning the alleged abuse of the drug etomidate. Police Chief AKBP Boy Jumalolo stated that Pardiman was not arrested, contrary to circulating information. Instead, Pardiman was instructed to appear at the National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) as a witness during the apprehension of an individual identified by the initials DD.

Previously, the Directorate of Narcotics Crimes at Bareskrim had handed over several personnel from the Tangerang Selatan Police Narcotics Unit to the Sub-directorate of Paminal Bidpropam Polda Metro Jaya for ethical and disciplinary examinations related to alleged drug use. Bareskrim had initially indicated that Pardiman was involved in the misuse of etomidate, a potent medical anesthetic now reportedly being abused in illegal vape liquids and classified as a Group II narcotic. However, the Metro Jaya Regional Police later clarified that Pardiman and five other members of the unit were not involved in the drug trafficking, identifying two suspects, MR and DD, as a unit head and an Aceh police member.
