Police Investigate Security Guard's Death in Jatiluhur, Interview 11 Witnesses

West Java Regional Police, in conjunction with the Purwakarta Resort Police, are investigating the death of a 40-year-old security guard, identified as S, who was found deceased with his hands handcuffed in the Jatiluhur Reservoir area, Purwakarta Regency, on Friday, July 24, 2026. The investigation aims to determine if the death involves criminal activity, specifically homicide.

"Approximately 11 witnesses have been interviewed by the Purwakarta Resort Police to gather information before and after the incident," stated Hendra Rochmawan, Head of Public Relations for the West Java Police, in a written statement on Monday, July 27, 2026. Police are also analyzing surveillance camera (CCTV) footage from the vicinity of the crime scene to piece together the chronology of events leading up to the victim's discovery.

The West Java Police addressed various speculations circulating on social media that linked the security guard's death to the activities of a specific motorcycle group. Hendra urged the public to refrain from drawing premature conclusions before the legal process is complete. He assured that the police are handling the case objectively, transparently, and measurably.

Emphasizing the principle of presumed innocence, Hendra stated, "Before the evidence is sufficiently strong, we cannot conclude or name specific parties as suspects." The investigation is ongoing, with authorities focused on gathering concrete evidence to establish the facts surrounding the security guard's death.
