Tarcísio leads Haddad in São Paulo governor race polls for second round

Governor Tarcísio de Freitas is ahead of former minister Fernando Haddad in a potential second-round election for the São Paulo state government, with 51.8% of voter intentions compared to Haddad's 38.3%. This is according to a new poll released by Instituto Paraná Pesquisas.

The survey, conducted between July 25 and 28 with 1,680 voters, also indicates Tarcísio leading in a hypothetical first-round scenario. He garners 48.5% of intentions, while Haddad follows with 35.1%. The poll included other candidates such as Vera Lúcia, Carlos Machado, and Vivian Mendes, all of whom received less than 2% of the vote. A significant portion of respondents, 7.9%, indicated they would vote blank, null, or for none of the candidates, with an additional 4.8% undecided.

Fernando Haddad faces the highest rejection rate among the surveyed electorate, with 42.9% stating they would not vote for him. In contrast, Tarcísio de Freitas has a rejection rate of 27.1%. Other candidates also showed rejection rates below 10%, with 13.9% undecided and 7.3% open to voting for all presented names.

The poll, which has a margin of error of 2.4 percentage points and a 95% confidence level, was registered with the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). The findings suggest a continued lead for Tarcísio de Freitas in the gubernatorial race, with Haddad facing a notable challenge in overcoming voter rejection.
