Tax Error Affects 200,000 Danish Homeowners' Advance Assessments

A significant administrative error has impacted around 200,000 homeowners in Denmark, who have been issued incorrect advance property tax assessments for 2026. The Danish Tax Administration (Skatteforvaltningen) has acknowledged a supplier error that led to the omission of land value tax from these crucial financial documents.

While the property value tax component was calculated correctly, the absence of the land value tax means the assessments are inaccurate. Fortunately, the issue was identified promptly, and the affected homeowners will receive corrected assessments within days. Crucially, this error has not affected recent payroll calculations, minimizing immediate financial disruption for most.

This incident adds to a history of challenges and errors associated with property valuations in Denmark.
