TDA Strengthens TVET and Renewable Energy Talent Development in Sabah

Technology Depository Agency Bhd (TDA) is bolstering the development of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) skills and renewable energy talent in Sabah. Two key initiatives under the Beaufort Main Entry Point Project (PMU Beaufort) are set to enhance these crucial sectors.

The initiatives involve the donation of electrical equipment for teaching and research purposes, alongside the establishment of a dedicated Renewable Energy Training and Research Center at Politeknik Kota Kinabalu. These programs are implemented under the Ministry of Finance's Industry Collaboration Program (ICP), overseen by TDA, to foster technology transfer, nurture talent, and strengthen the capabilities of local industries through selected government procurement projects.

The Industry Collaboration Program ensures that every strategic government procurement generates sustainable value for the nation through technology transfer, talent development, and knowledge sharing.

Tan Sri Liew Yun Fah, Chairman of TDA, highlighted that the program demonstrates how strategic government procurement can yield broader benefits beyond mere infrastructure development. "The Industry Collaboration Program ensures that every strategic government procurement generates sustainable value for the nation through technology transfer, talent development, and knowledge sharing," he stated.

He further emphasized that stronger collaboration between the government, industry, and academic institutions through ICP contributes to building a competitive local workforce. This, in turn, supports Malaysia's transition towards a high-value, technology-driven economy. The initiative is a joint effort involving the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), ICP provider Unimekar Sdn. Bhd., Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), and Politeknik Kota Kinabalu.
