Tepebaşı and Bilecik Municipalities Unite for Children's Day Concert

In a beautiful display of cultural exchange and a celebration of youth, the Tepebaşı Municipality's "İki Elin Sesi Var" Children's Symphony Orchestra and Choir joined forces with the Bilecik Municipality Children's Choir for a memorable concert in Bilecik. This special performance marked Turkey's National Sovereignty and Children's Day, a significant occasion that highlights the nation's future generations.

The concert, held at the Şeyh Edebali Culture and Congress Center, was a testament to the power of art in bridging communities and fostering talent. The young musicians and singers from Tepebaşı, under the baton of Serhan Gencer, presented a diverse repertoire, followed by a joint performance with the Bilecik choir, led by Derya İnanç and Saltanat Sadvokassova. The combined ensemble delivered a moving rendition of pieces dedicated to Atatürk and the spirit of the day.

I don't think there is such a large-scale, high-quality study in another municipality in Turkey today. I insist on doing this in Bilecik as well. I definitely want us to do this. Because this is great effort. Art heals people. Look, our children are under protection here. We need to spread this to the whole country. This orchestra was founded with forty children and forty violins and has reached this point. Today we gave a very important concert here. We are sharing this beautiful memory with our friends in Bilecik for the third time. We will always share, we will always be together.

Tepebaşı Mayor Ahmet Ataç emphasized the importance of providing opportunities for children, stating, "When given the chance, our children reach such a point. You are truly our pride." He highlighted the extensive effort involved and expressed a desire to see such initiatives spread nationwide, underscoring art's healing power. Bilecik Mayor Melek Mızrak Subaşı echoed these sentiments, expressing gratitude for the collaboration and noting the growth of the children involved since the project's inception three years prior. This event, now a tradition between the sister cities, beautifully illustrates the value placed on arts education and inter-municipal cooperation in Turkey, showcasing a uniquely local pride in nurturing young talent through music.

It's good that you came. It's good that we met our children and had such a beautiful feast of art. The first time I heard the polyphonic children's choir, I was the acting mayor at the time. We started such a project with our President, and we said we wanted to host it in Bilecik. My President said, 'What do you mean, right away.' The children I saw three years ago have grown taller today. I can't even recognize some of them. The date was set last month, and we decided to hold this concert for April 23. Because this meeting had become traditional. We had signed our sister municipality protocol, but for us, sister municipality is not just a relationship that remains on paper. I say sincerely, President Ahmet has a lot of effort in me. He has always supported me.
