Tesla Dominates South Korean Imported Car Market for Sixth Straight Month

Tesla continued its dominance in South Korea's imported car market, securing the top spot for the sixth consecutive month in July with 10,237 registrations. This figure represents 33% of the total imported cars registered that month.

The electric vehicle manufacturer's strong sales, driven by its Model Y, significantly contributed to electric cars making up almost half of all imported vehicle registrations. The Model Y Premium and Model Y Premium Long Range were the top-selling imported car models in July.

Despite Tesla's success, overall imported passenger car registrations in July saw a slight decrease of 18.6% compared to June, totaling 30,976 units. However, this figure still represents a 14.3% increase compared to the same period last year. Year-to-date, accumulated registrations have risen by 30.1% to 215,008 units.

European brands accounted for the largest share of imported car registrations in July at 47.9%, followed closely by American brands at 33.8%. Chinese brands made up 9.2% and Japanese brands 9.1%. The primary fuel types registered were electric (49.8%), hybrid (41.5%), gasoline (8.1%), and diesel (0.6%).
