Texas Giga Coaster Breaks Six World Records

Thrill-seekers can now experience the Tormenta Rampaging Run, a new extreme attraction at Six Flags Over Texas that has officially broken six world records. The giga dive coaster is not only the tallest, fastest, and longest in its class but also offers a heart-stopping plunge from over 91.44 meters at a near-vertical angle.

Opened on July 9, the Tormenta Rampaging Run is the world's first giga dive coaster, setting records for height, speed, and length within its category. The theme park in Arlington, Texas, first announced the new ride in September of the previous year. The coaster, themed around Spanish traditions, ascends high above the Dallas-Fort Worth skyline before pausing at its peak.

Similar to the tension before a bull run, the coaster halts for three seconds at the apex before plunging 87 meters at a 95-degree angle, marking a world record for the highest drop past the vertical line. The ride also boasts the world's tallest dive at 94 meters, the fastest dive speed of 140 kilometers per hour, and the longest dive track at 1,280 meters. Additional records include the world's highest vertical loop at 55 meters and the highest Immelmann maneuver at 66 meters, mimicking fighter jet movements.

Carmichael believes that anyone who enjoys a challenge and roller coasters can conquer the Tormenta Rampaging Run without needing extraordinary bravery.

The theme park initially announced the attraction's public opening for June 26. However, just four days prior, a park spokesperson stated that the certification process was taking longer than expected. This final testing phase ensures all mechanical, electrical, and control systems meet safety standards and manufacturer specifications before the ride opens to the public. The Tormenta Rampaging Run is located in the new Rancho de la Tormenta Plaza, themed as an old, remote Spanish village with colorful banners and lively Spanish music.
