TH committed to implementing zakat settlements according to Sharia

Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) has reaffirmed its commitment to executing zakat (obligatory alms) payments for its depositors in strict accordance with Sharia principles and approved guidelines. The institution welcomed a recent statement by the Mufti of Pahang, Prof. Datuk Dr. Asmadi Mohamed Naim, which provided a comprehensive explanation regarding the Sharia compliance of TH's zakat procedures.

TH stated that Asmadi, a former member of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) for Tabung Haji, thoroughly elaborated on the process of managing zakat payments on behalf of eligible depositors. The institution expressed hope that this explanation would enhance public understanding, particularly among depositors, regarding the zakat payment process, which has been validated through authoritative ijtihad (independent reasoning by Islamic scholars).

"TH remains committed to ensuring that every aspect of its operations and zakat governance is implemented based on the Zakat Guidelines approved and monitored by the TH Syariah Advisory Committee (JPS TH)," the statement read. This committee comprises experts in Sharia and Islamic finance, ensuring all zakat-related matters comply with Islamic legal requirements.

TH expressed its hope that depositors will continue to offer their support and maintain their confidence in the institution's management of the trust placed in it by over 9.8 million depositors nationwide.
