Thousands Enjoy Free Coffee and Spirit of Service at NU Congress

Amidst the bustling atmosphere of the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Congress in Jombang, East Java, a modest booth has captured significant attention. Located on Jalan Wahab Hasbullah, the stall offers a variety of refreshments, including coffee, tea, 'wedang secang' (a spiced herbal drink), instant noodles, and light snacks, all provided free of charge.

The initiative is a form of 'khidmah,' or service, offered by the Jam'iyyah Manaqib Jawahirul Ma'ani Kabupaten Jombang. Agus Sulaiman, the head of the organization, explained that the service began on August 25, 2026. Initially, the booth operated only in the evenings, catering to attendees and visitors of the congress held at Pondok Pesantren Bahrul Ulum.

However, the overwhelming enthusiasm from the public prompted an expansion of the service. By the second day, the booth was open from morning until night. Agus Sulaiman reported that thousands of people had already enjoyed the complimentary offerings. He emphasized that the free cup of coffee is more than just a refreshment for those tired from congress activities; it represents a deeper intention of service and seeking blessings.

The communal spirit and generosity displayed at the booth have become a notable aspect of the large-scale NU event, offering a moment of respite and hospitality to the thousands of people converging for the congress.
