Three dead in head-on crash on Ghana's Kyebi–Asikam Road

A tragic head-on collision on the Kyebi–Asikam road in Ghana's Eastern Region has resulted in the deaths of three people. The accident, which occurred on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, involved a Toyota RAV4 and a Kia Picanto.

Personnel from the Kibi Fire Station were dispatched immediately following the incident. Upon arrival, firefighters found both vehicles severely damaged. They managed to rescue injured occupants from the wreckage and transport them to the Kibi Government Hospital for treatment. Sadly, three occupants of the Kia Picanto were pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigations by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) suggest that the driver of the Toyota RAV4 lost control of the vehicle, crossed into the oncoming lane, and collided with the Kia Picanto. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage. In response to the incident, the Eastern Region GNFS has issued a strong advisory to drivers, urging them to exercise caution, adhere to speed limits, and avoid dangerous overtaking maneuvers, particularly on busy inter-town routes.
